The Asian team is flying ahead of the Royal Trophy – and they proved it by taking to the skies on Wednesday, while the Europeans hit the road.

Asian Team Captain Joe Ozaki and his players flew from their base at Hua Hin to Bangkok for the Royal Trophy Official Presentation of the Teams and Gala Banquet in honour of the two Teams.

Ozaki’s players have also been hitting the heights on the course, amassed an eye-catching 14 victories between them in the past year, the most by any Royal Trophy Team in the Competition’s six year history.

Colin Montgomerie decided against boarding the same plane as their opponents, pointing out that several of his players were still feeling jet-lagged and could catch up on their sleep on the three hour road trip.

But he promised they would hit the ground running when the Competition begins with Friday’s Foursomes matches.

“The European and Asian Teams are now in Thailand and we are all expecting a highly competitive series of matches over the weekend at the magnificent Black Mountain Golf Club;” stated Lincoln Venancio, the Royal Trophy Managing Director.

“We are thankful for the support from the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand and the organization of the Championship conducted by the Sports Authority of Thailand, Prachuap Khirikhan Province and Hua Hin Municipality;” concluded Lincoln Venancio.

The Royal Trophy is organized by the Sports Authority of Thailand, Prachuap Khirikhan Province, Hua Hin Municipality and Entertainment and Sports Co., Ltd. The Championship is promoted internationally by Entertainment Group Limited.
