The Orchid Garden Hotel has been designated a Preferred Hotel of the Royal Trophy – Europe vs Asia Golf Championship to be held on 14-16 December 2012 in the Sultanate of Brunei.

“We are pleased to welcome the Orchid Garden Hotel as a Preferred Hotel of the Royal Trophy. This upcoming sixth edition of the magnificent Matches played between the Continents of Asia and Europe promises to be truly monumental with the Europeans being led by two-time Masters Champion José Maria Olazábal and the Asians being captained by the thirty-five time tournament title winner and Japanese golf legend Naomichi ‘Joe’ Ozaki,” stated Royal Trophy Managing Director Lincoln Venancio.

The strategically-located Orchid Garden Hotel caters to a wide variety of travellers with its wide range of rooms and services. From its impressive lobby to its Cesar Grand Hall, its full range of facilities and amenities and including its Amanha Spa; the Orchid Garden Hotel is an oasis amidst the modern world’s busy lifestyle.

“Our entire team at the Orchid Garden Hotel is very proud to have been designated a Preferred Hotel of the Royal Trophy, as the Competition will be historically held in our Sultanate for the very first time ever. We are extremely excited about this opportunity to showcase our Bruneian hospitality on the international stage and to welcome guests from all over the world for this superb world-class sporting Event,” said Mr. Shamsul Bahrin Pehin Haji Ahmad, General Manager of Orchid Garden Hotel.

“We will undertake all possible efforts to make the experience of the visitors attending the Royal Trophy and staying at the Orchid Garden Hotel an unforgettable life-time experience. We will facilitate their supporting the respective Continents and favorite players on the golf course while still having plenty of opportunities to discover the great natural treasures and majestic landmarks of our Abode of Peace,” concluded Mr. Shamsul.

Japanese superstar Ryo Ishikawa, the youngest player in history to win a major Tour professional title, has already been nominated by Captain Ozaki for the Asian Team, and is joined by Asia’s match-play maestro and former Asian Games double gold medalist K. T. Kim of Korea. Eight-time European Tour Order of Merit champion and one of the world’s most successful golfers in history, Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie OBE, is the first player nominated for the European defense of the Royal Trophy.

The prestigious and highly-competitive team match-play Continental Championship will once again feature eight players and a captain representing the Asian and European Continents respectively in a series of sixteen foursomes, four-ball and singles matches.

The sixth edition of the Royal Trophy, to be held on 14-16 December, will be played as a tribute to the late legendary Seve Ballesteros, who led the Europeans to victory at the two inaugural editions of the Competition.

The hosting of the Royal Trophy in the Sultanate of Brunei offers visitors a fantastic opportunity to experience world-class golf and enjoy the splendour of Brunei – a jewel set in the monumental Borneo rainforest and the pristine South China Sea.
