KIRADECH EYES A ROYAL SALUTE

An emotional Kiradech Aphibarnrat has revealed his extra incentive for a Royal Trophy victory – to honour the much–loved monarch who donated the exquisite prize Asia and Europe will do battle for this week.

The Royal Trophy was graciously presented to the Championship by King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand in 2005, and his country’s close links with the Competition strengthened as the first five series of matches were played there.

The 86 year old King is the world’s longest serving monarch, having reigned since June 1946. And Thai golf star Kiradech, newly installed as Asia’s 2013 Order of Merit champion, is hoping another Asian victory in the Royal Trophy would serve as a welcome tonic.
